Being a True Disciple

Christians seem to take the title of Christian seriously. We identify with the name, attend church, worship, and call ourselves followers of Jesus. But here is the question we have to wrestle with: Do we take the call of Christianity just as seriously?

Jesus did not simply call us to carry the name Christian. He called us to follow Him, to become His disciples, and to make disciples.

In Matthew 28:19 to 20, Jesus gives His followers a clear mission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”The Christian life was never meant to stop with our own salvation. We have been called to take what we have received and share it with others.

Being a true disciple means more than believing in Jesus. It means following Him, learning His ways, obeying His Word, and allowing our lives to reflect His character. As we grow as disciples, we are also called to help others become disciples.

It is time for the Church to take this call seriously. It is time to move beyond simply carrying the title and start living out the mission. The world does not just need more people who identify as Christians. It needs disciples who are willing to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and make disciples wherever they go.

The call is clear. The mission is ours. It is time to become serious about being disciples of Jesus and going into all the world to make disciples.
